Re: Folkloric Figures of Ullera

All right, so I have a much delayed partial list that I think is correct:

Pure Steam
1. Topper Sowersgell / Abraham Lincoln
2. Jammer Felcon / Benjamin Franklin
3. Niklos Savig / Nikola Tesla
4. Rhomiston Edeillon / Thomas Edison
5. Eienhart Elessini / Harry Houdini
6. Ollestrom “Ollie” Whiteknees / Oliver Winchester
7. Thaxter Shreve / Cecilia Thaxter and Anita Shreve
8. Tobias Turnwell / Charles Goodyear
9. Col. Jafreg Kilborn / James Kilbourne and Byron Kilbourne
10. Brigadier General Mort Ergan / General John Hunt Morgan
11. ???

1. Waylon Harp / Wyatt Earp
2. Tracer Safekeel / Mark Twain
3. Haddi “Wordsworth” Longbraid / Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
4. Gowis and Lhurk / Lewis and Clark
5. Zebuwade Proud / Zebulon Pike
6. Art Landing / Sam Houston, Named for Allen's Landing, birthplace of the City of Houston
7. Jasper P. “J. P.” Tallbeam / J.P. Morgan
8. Sam Hill / named for popular euphemism and owner of Sam Hill Hardware Store in Prescott
9. ???
10. ???
11. ???
12. ???
13. ???
14. ???

Anything incorrect here? Any clues as to the missing names? Also, if you have that master list of PS locations to real-world ones, I would enjoy taking a look at it!

Re: Folkloric Figures of Ullera

There are definitely a few here that are fairly interpretive (and can be read-in-to without being an overt reference), so I'm not going to say you're wrong about anything. Also because it's your Ullera after all, and if you want your Ullera to have a Pure Steam version of Charles Goodyear in it, bully for you!

That said, here are some hints to the ones your missing from my list.

•Two found in Five Points (The Bastion).
•A famed architect in Sunderland.
•For #6, think "cotton gin".

•For #7, think early Texan statesman.
•#8 isn't one officially, though it's a nice interpretation!
•Missing ~7 from the Disputed.
•Missing 1 from Gom Shao.
•And 1 from Rausch.

Still, pretty impressed with your detective work. Well done!

Re: Folkloric Figures of Ullera

Ahhh, Ollestrom “Ollie” Whiteknees = Eli Whitney! That makes more sense. I had forgotten about his interchangeable musket parts.

I noted "The Lord Builder W. T. Marrenck" on my list of probable historical personages, but I couldn't quite pinpoint who he was. Looks like I'll have to dig a bit deeper on J.P. Tallbeam as well.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll keep working on this.

P.S. I'd also still like to get my hands on the 'Ullera to U.S.' locations list...
